crazy

spent 7 hours on my lab report!yeah, only 1 :s

it isn't a long one. the only reason is the super-smart-me forgot to save the file. never realize till the minute my com hanged. then? three hours hard work just vanished into the air. seriously felt like crying. aiks.

why on earth did i forget????

was really depressed.

back to my report after taking a shower. another 3 hours of calculations and explanation. almost die.

and now, finally, i have finished! no longer depressed! :)

long weekend

"allerheiligen" - "all holy??" whatever. because of this christians celebration, i am having a long holiday. ok, supposed to go to class tomorrow but decided not to. no point going when majority of the class is skipping right? moreover, most (2-3?) of my normally-skip-class-friends are going. so there is no need to show my face in the lecture.

so, what's the plan? hmm, basically nothing. might go shopping tomorrow or celebrating friend's birthday. depends. most probably is a last minute decision again.

quite busy recently. and couldn't sleep well. thus want to have enough rest during this weekend. well, guess i am no longer young. :'(

Hari Raya

was just another holiday.

now, it means more.
an opportunity to meet friends and nice food.
too bad it is no longer a public holiday.

exam's over

since then we are trying our very best to optimise the use of every single second. shopping, meeting friends, movie marathon (at home :p)... anything! just to make sure we can finish what we are supposed to do in the past month. guess we were really deprived of going out. ended up spending half of the time walking on the streets, searching for cheap nice clothes while our legs were actually protesting. to top that up, we never cook a single meal after exam. just kfc, starbucks and korean/japanese buffet. huuu. food is going to rot if we continue this. so we are having a special steamboat tomorrow. definition of special? err.. just throw all the edible food into the soup in order to get rid of them before we are off to malaysia. hehe.
anyway, happy holidays people! for those who are still suffering, don't be so jealous, k? :p
till then.

craps

i am supposed to sleep now. dizzy, tired, blur... the only reason that i am still here is the photos, those we took this afternoon in bocholt. they are still on their way from bocholt despite the fact that i have reached 3-4 hours ago, solely because they departed later. somehow, they are moving really slowly. 2-3 % in 10 minutes? god, at this rate i can only sleep at 2am. hope not! i will die by then. what should i do? blame their big size? or the stupid internet connection? msn perhaps? oh no, another 86% to go! maybe i should just let my com on while i hit the sack. bye!
ps: to bocholters, thanks for the food once again. see ya in the airport! :p

tagged

Rules & Regulations:
Each player of this game starts out by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog!

weird things about me? it's not that easy as i am absolutely normal. opps, it's weird! anyway, as a good human beings who always follows rules and regulations, i will crack my head for this.

- couldn't stand spiciness despite the fact that i am a true malaysian.
- don't think i am fair though others keep on insisting.
- have to turn on the 'foreign language mode' in order to comprehend what others mean
- blush easily: talk in front of the class, answer quetions..
- there is always a delayed before i give any response as the process of transffering the information to my brain and analyse it takes longer than usual.
- can remember insignificant things easily but not those important ones

however, nothing is as weird as sitting in front of my com and go through all these instead of preparing for my lab! bleh!

ok, my turn to tag! dang dang dang dang: whoever who is interested in this little game!

decision . nuclear

nuclear chemistry is the new subject i chose for this semester. why this? you might ask. well, polymer and environmental chemistry sound boring to me. so i am left with two options, nuclear and foodtech. foodtech is obviously a wiser choice if i plan to work in malaysia but i haven't decided if i am staying back in europe or trying my luck in asia. since i have no idea where am i working later, i might as well choose something that is more interesting. yeah, the answer is just simply because nuclear chemistry is interesting. at least this is what i think at the moment. we should go for what we like, don't people say so?

however, this decision is not supported by the majority as they think that nuclear = dangerous. i won't deny it of course. it's the cold, hard fact. yet, who can be sure that working as a teacher can live longer than those who deal with nuclei? we will die when it's time to. in this case, dangerouse is no longer a problem. :p

Moreover, i am just studying this for fun. it doesn't mean that i have to work in this field in the future. err.. let's put it this way, not everyone has the chance to apply what they have learned. so, no worries, people. this decision is not as bad as you think. *wink*

happy cny

i have deserted this blog for quite some time. eh.. blame the exams. now, exam's over! ok, only those before holiday are over. two more are coming a month later. a month, means i still have some time. maybe should just relax. at least these few days.

so what am i going to do? dang dang dang dang: i am going home for chinese new year. tommorow's flight. hehe. really a last minute decision. just don't think i can study more here. yeah, i know i have tv, food, shopping centres, friends and family in malaysia but internet can beat everything. no, don't get me wrong, of course i have internet at home. just that i seldom online due to the super fast connection. time's always precious when i am at home. so i won't waste all my time on forever loading websites.

to those who are celebrating chinese new year in malaysia, we shall meet! to those who are not, i would like to wish happy chinese new year in advance. gong xi fa cai!!

shortcut

always want to find the easiest way to achieve something. it's me. however, there isn't always a shortcut. sometimes, we just have to work hard. this is the lesson i learn from my revision. supposed to do the exercises but ended up reading the answers posted online. reasons? my brain isn't working properly and i wanna finish my revision as soon as possible. it's partly the lecturer's fault. why must he post the answers online? haha. now, i am getting the 'balasan'. have to redo all the quetions to make sure i really understand and manage to solve the quetions in the exam. haih. really regret. should have done the quetions. no more shortcut in studies. at least not those involve calculation and thinking. REGRET.

skipping

skipped lecture today! lots of my friends couldn't believe it but i did skip the super boring organic chemistry. it's a hard decision as i am a good student. haha. felt really bad but really hate all the stupid equations at the moment. so i chose to say sorry to the lecturer. hmm.. and i did make sure others went for lecture so that the lecturer won't feel that bad. see, i am still a good student!

by the way, got my w850i today. and guess what? i didn't insert the sim card as i wanted to insert it after charging the hp. so? i can still insert it whenever i like. yup, that's what i thought. when i happily wanna insert the sim card, i just couldn't open the cover. tried infinity times but just didn't work. what's wrong? can't i use my hp anymore? i haven't even on it. omg. thumbs are aching. can do nothing though. hoping that mr nick manage to help me tommorow. or else i have to go back to the shop and ask for help. arg.. memalukan! guess it's the balasan of skipping!

depress

after 1 1/2 hours organic chemistry lecture, i was half dead. too many equations! suddenly understand why many people think chemistry is hard. you might not have any difficulties in understanding but you will have a big problem in mamorising all the processes, equations and stuffs. argss.. drew/ wrote/ copied lots of equations within the 90 mins but can't remember a single one. they are just so alien!!
class was over and i thought: fine, no more equation for today!
again, i encountered another few equations while i tried to catch up with the revision. didn't bother to look at them, at least not now. aiks, why am i doing chemical engineering? i used to love chemistry.. but now, i am not sure. i might still love it, but not the memorising part for sure. why must i memorise all these? can't i just refer to a book when i need it? aiks.. hate equations!! wish i have better memory!!

christmas celebration

went to a christmas party just now. ok, nothing special if it wasn't in organic chemistry lab. yeah, it's always a must to wear labcoat and goggles in the lab. as normal, eating is also strictly prohibited. so how to party in a lab? hmm, just... like normal. cheh!

drinks was served and snacks were contributed by us, the so called poor students. haha. light was off and music was on. so the atmosphere was pretty good. as usual, we sticked among ourselves while others were busy chatting. it's surely awkward! even steph's mom said it doesn't make any difference if we were there or at home. haih, sad! anyway, lecturers and lab assistances started to approach us and it made things worse. we had nothing to talk and it ended up in a more awkward situation. one of the lecturers even asked if we have any quetion. omg, what quetion should we ask in a party? *rolling eyes*

things got better after a draggy 30 mins. some of the closer classmates arrived and we finally chatted with others. guess that was the longest conversation in 18 months. tsk tsk we are anti-social after all.

nightmare *_*

dreamt that one of my friends died. just a dream, you might say. yet, it made me worry. almost message that friend just to make sure she is alright. kept thinking about it and blurted it out right before the lecture started. then dee told me that indians believe that whoever who die in a dream has a long life. i am not sure whether it's true but i choose to believe it. why not? it makes me relief and stops me from thinking all the what if. it's not the matter of supertitious. it's just a way to omit the unnecesary worries. hehe. it's actually the second time i have this kind of dream. the first one really freaked me out. it seemed so real that i almost believe it will happen. back then, i told another friend of mine just to avoid it. avoid? yeah, chinese believe that bad dreams won't come true if you voice it out. again, it's another 'just in case'. don't laugh at this. all these might seem pointless but every say has its own reason, i say. anyway, i am still a science person :p

Still remember what you were up to a year ago? surely i did. yet, i am not the one who tells the story today. my friend, yuni does!

"a year ago i stayed at cemetery street no. 1. no kidding.

if the name itself scares you away, wait till you listen to the rest of the story...the house was located at a secluced village where the population is no more than 1500 heads - mainly made up of old grumpy hardbreads and middleschooler-bullies.

before i moved in, i tried to search for its exact location, only to be directed to the local cemetery. -_- it's such a small place that the only access to it is by car on weekends and holidays, or an hourly public bus till 7pm on weekdays. if you want to get to the nearest post office, supermarket or clinic on a weekend, that means 20mins of cycling on a cold winter day, or 40 mins walk. on a good weekday, you can get to town in an hour or to the city in another 30mins. but please be reminded that service runs on an hourly basis and after 7 you're basically on your own feet.with such connections, you would have thought that it's better to keep myself grounded. maybe. maybe not.

my ex-landlord, landlady and their son were not too willing to part themselves from their house. hence, they'd pop up on my doorstep or in my frontyard any time, be it 8am on a sunday morning or when no one's at home. even if any of us did not open the blinds or if the curtain was not correctly positioned, it was their business. and a very good reason for them to appear on my front door. it didn't help that they stayed a few steps away from us.perhaps if i was a little more tolerant, i could have closed an eye on this matter. maybe. maybe not.

the house was creaky and the attic and basement looked like exact replicas of haunted houses in the horror movies i watch. right in front of it was a church, and during my short stay i've encountered more funeral marches passing by that i had for the past 20 years of my life. the walls were so thin that you could actually hear what's going on downstairs and in the house next door.if horror movies didn't scare me, there's no reason that a simple house could give me goose bumps. maybe. maybe not.

even though we've complained multiple times, it didn't seem that the water heater problem was ever solved. during an average bath we got 5 minutes of ice cold water, 3 minutes lukewarm, 2 minutes scalding hot and another 5 minutes of ice cold water. within the first month of our stay, the first sign of abnormality appeared. one night as i flushed the toilet, instead of bringing waste to the sewage, it did the opposite. O_o not only through the toilet bowl but through the bath tub as well. it was 8pm and we ran frantically to our dear ex-landlord, who didn't answer the door. (apparently they hit the sack at 6pm!) that night neither of us bathed nor used the toilet. the second one came a month later without warning when i was cooking in the kitchen when i realised water was dripping from the bathroom above. during the coldest month of winter, the heater decided to protest against us, leaving us in winter jackets in our rooms.if you thought that i'd stay any longer there, you've gotta be kidding or else i was crazy.

to top it off, the rent wasn't exactly cheap. about a third more than what i'm paying now. so within 2 months we took up our courages to dismiss our contracts. of course, it wasn't easy and neither were they gonna make it smooth-sailing for us. after a couple of scoldings and threatening we finally were granted our wish, but only in effect three months later.

in the mean time, life didn't get any easier for us. we were running high and low searching for apartments and moving our stuff with the ever-reliable public transport. we settled for an empty apartment in town. when i say empty i mean EMPTY. only equiped with a bath tub, a toilet bowl, a sink and a couple of wires and pipes, we were to move in. cupboard? bed? ceiling lights? stove? buy yourself-lah! for a month we were scouting for cheap furniture and kitchenware to fit our tiny budget, travelling before sunrise and catching the last bus back to the village.

1st of december - the day when we finally left cemetery street no.1. not only did we not turn our heads back, neither did we regret moving out and paying double rents for 2 months. it was certainly an expensive lesson for us to learn - one which costed us so much money, effort and time.

you would have thought that i would never have to hear from them ever ever again after i stepped my foot out of the village. how wrong you were. and so were we..........

3 months later, we received a letter from the embassy of malaysia stating that our previous landlord had a bill for us, but as he did not have our current address, the post was directed to the embassy. of the 350 euros of deposit each of us paid when we signed our contracts, we were only to be given back 0.75 cents. no joke. reason to it:

- during the month of january the electricity and gas bill was twice as high as the months before even though the house was unoccupied.
- the charges for repairing the toilet, bathtub as well as repainting the kitchen ceiling were to bepaid by us.- apparently, we stole 5 forks, 5 knives, a painting, a plate with dutch motifs that we've never ever seen in our lives, a candle holder with gold plating (wth?), 2 glasses and a can opener. seriously.
- after we spent a day scrubbing the floor and cleaned the house, they complained that the house was in a mess. so they hired professional cleaners to do the dirty work, and charged 300euros on our bill.
- and i'm sure you'd like to know that his wife charged us another 150euros for cleaning the curtains and the filthy windows. i was seriouly thinking of going to court for being framed up that way. but heck no, i didn't. in the end, after arguing with him for almost an hour, i reluctantly settled for a return of 75euros. each time i think about it, my heart aches.

DON'T TELL ME THAT I'M JUST UNLUCKY AND THAT I CAN'T GENERALISE BASED ON AN ISOLATE CASE. SUCH AN EXPERIENCE IS ENOUGH FOR ME TO HATE THE ENTIRE RACE OF HARDBREADS....yet, i'm still here.

anyway, that's not my point. today's december 1st, so i thought i'd blog about it. i'm just glad that i'm no longer there, god knows how much more i would suffer if i would have stayed any longer. oh well, what has occured is already spilt milk.

nevertheless, ----- HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY:)
